I’m not sure about where you live, but here in Texas summer has fully arrived. While, maybe Texas summer hasn’t arrived, but summer by most normal standards. The high today is 90. N-i-n-e-t-y. Riiiight. I forgot that part of the deal when I signed up to move back here. Summers get hot. It starts in March. Ends in November.
During college I wore a lot of skirts and tank tops. But two and a half kids later, piecing together several different coordinated outfits doesn’t seem too feasible for me {unless of course, they are Gymboree hand-me-downs from my awesome SIL}. And so my love of dresses is renewed a little earlier this year.
As my stomach expands, I’m going to need to add in a few flowing dresses and transition out my fitted ones. Here are my favorite options:
Old Navy Ruffled Linen-Blend Sundress in Coral Tropicsย {Notice the empire waist? Much needed}
Old Navy Floral Print Jersey Dress in Blue Printย {How delicate and pretty is this?!}
Merona Maternity Ruffle neck Dress in Purple {Let’s face, I’m probably gonna need to “bump” up come June}
Old Navy Ruffled-Yoke Jersey Dress in Blue Typhoon {This just speaks “cute and comfy”}
Mossimo Cami Maxi Dress in Avalon Sea {Though I’m weary of spaghetti straps}
Old Navy Flower-Graphic Tank Dress in Black Jack {Simple yet way cute}
A Pea in the Pod Sleeveless Rosette Dress in Charcoal {Very beautiful, very impractical, very expensive}
Motherhood Sleeveless Ruffled Dress in Green/Pink Floral {This looks so sweet and innocent}
Anthropologie Pangaea Silk Dress {So feminine, so silky, so, so expensive}
Merona Carey Dress in Ebony {I actually am ordering this to wear in my high school best friend’s wedding in late May}
Do you have any summer dresses that you’ve been eyeing? Any good maternity dress suggestions?

Pretty! I will be hoping you find some awesome deals!

So cute! I love the 1st one! It’s officially summer here, too.

I have been eyeing some old navy dresses too. So far I haven’t found it too difficult to nurse in most of my colder weather clothes, but as summer approaches, and I’m thinking about cute dresses, I’m starting to realize that a lot of dresses won’t work. Knit dresses with a faux wrap neckline or possibly some of the strapless maxi dress styles are about all that will work.

I lived in dresses last summer! Can’t wait to see your pregnant belly in some of these cute finds.
Ahhh this has me longing for Texas, it’s 40 degrees and drizzling right now.

Hey Sarah – I live in dresses in the summertime. The humidity back here in Tennessee adds another dimension to the “joys” of summer. Anyway, just a suggestion that if Goodwill doesn’t freak you out, I’ve found lots of great knit dresses there in the past for just being comfy. I even wear them around the house just because they feel good and also feminine in the midst of the “glistening” south… LOL My vote for your top ten is the Old Navy Floral Print Jersey. TOO cute!

The Anthropologie and Pea in the Pod are just beautiful! But the Old Navy ones are pretty darn cute too, thank goodness!

Love the coral….but I think the blue ones will look amazing on you! Don’t ever take me shopping…I come from a long line of successful shoppers. I’d say get them all ๐

I’m *so* jealous of your weather. I live in Northern Canada & let’s just say that spring hasn’t even arrived here yet. Yesterday it snowed ๐ฆ …

I really like most of these dresses but I am totally in love with the first one!

Hello fellow Texan! I think dresses are the best for our hot Texas summers. You’ve got some really good picks!

So…. I got a sewing machine for my birthday last year and have been churning out skirts from this pattern/idea.

I wear them high on my waist, and I think they’d be perfect to go over the bump. If I EVER can get myself over to see you, it’d be fun to see if we could make a preggers version of the skirt. (And by preggers version, I mean the exact same one. These are the easiest thing in the world to make. And they have pockets!)

Oh, and I just wear them with plain shirts (ok, let’s not lie…. Men’s v-neck undershirts that I buy in a giant eight pack) so I don’t have to match anything.

I love your love for dresses, Sarah! I think the top one is my favorite. I wanted to tell you that I was just at Kohl’s last night and they have quite a nice selection of cute, casual dresses in the Sonoma section. Happy shopping ๐

[…] The a/c is on, ice water in hand and the dress code is anything cool. The girls and I are living by the pool most afternoons, and enjoying every minute of it. I’m surprised at how adjusted I am becoming to the temperature. Although, all my wonderful secret fit belly pants and bella bandsย are not heat-friendly. I’ve tried folding them down, but then it puts too much constriction on my stomach which is pretty uncomfortable. It leaves me in a quandry as to how to hold up my pants. I suppose dresses are the way to go after all. […]

Old Navy always seems to have the best deals. Plus they have more of a spring/summer collection than anyone else. ๐
