Movie Quotes – My Top Ten Favorite

Posted on: July 19, 2011

Top Ten {Tuesday}I love movies. Lots and lots. And once I fall in love with a movie, I tend to watch it several times {ok, probably more than that}. With that comes memorizing scenes and favorite quotes. Typically, my favorite quotes are random, and, depending on who you ask, I might over use them.

1. Not a finger! {A Christmas Story}

2. Matchy-matchy green squared! {Return to Me}

3. Miss you already! {The Bachelor  – the movie not the show}

4. That’s shocking. {Elf}

5. Think, McFly. Think. {Back to the Future}

6. Just call me Joe. {You’ve Got Mail}

7. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. {Seinfeld – ok, so not a movie, but still a favorite quote}

8. Marriage is what brings us together today. {The Princess Bride}

9. I want to go to there. {30 Rock – again, not a movie, but again a favorite all the same}

10. So far, this is not blowing up my skirt. {True Lies}

What are your favorite movie quotes? I’m sure I have a slew more, but these are what came to me first.

Elf is chock full of quotes you cotton-headed ninny-muggins ;]

“You bring us down a whole octave.”

“In a good way!”

I could quote Elf and A Christmas Story all day. 🙂

“I just like smiling, smiling’s my favorite.”
“Make work your favorite okay? Work is your new favorite.”

We just watched Rango. A new great one: It’s so puzzling…. It’s like a mammogram!

Some of my favorites:
“It’s not a tumor!” Kindergarten Cop
“You have bewitched me body and soul.” Pride and Prejudice
“I carried a watermelon. I carried a watermelon??” Dirty Dancing
“I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January.” A Charlie Brown Christmas

Oh, the Kindergarten Cop one is a favorite of mine, too 🙂

I’m slightly sad to say that I’ve written a post on this before, and it includes way more than 10 quotes. 🙂 I’ll give you the link if you don’t mind: http://www.givinguponperfect.com/2009/01/i-carried-watermelon/ (And if you do mind, just delete me!)

Oh Mary, those were awesome! And totally reminded me of a ton more quotes I use. Like “there’s no crying in baseball” or “if you’re gonna hurl, hurl in this”.

LOVE…thanks for sharing again 🙂

What fun quotes, reminded me of a lot heard around my house. Thanks for sharing! Yea movies

I quote often from Gilmore Girls (“Smart girls are mean!” “No, the deer hit me.”), What About Bob (“she never says that,” “A vacation from my PROBlems”), You’ve Got Mail, “I was hoping it would be you.”), and so many more…

LOVE this post! I find it amusing I quote all the same movies/TV (and then some) Even Return to Me! : “I think you should needle-point that on a pillow”

I’ve had an entire conversation with a girlfriend on You’ve Got Mail quotes before… 🙂

Have to share my favorite Princess Bride quotes:
“You keep using this word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.” and
“Well I’m not saying I’d like to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely.”

And True Lies! My favorites (besides yours): “It’s called ice, and it gets a little slick”
or
“Ok, I’ve got two words for that: In. Sane.”

I could go on, and on, and on……

Not there is anything wrong with that! Love that Seinfeld episode!
One of my face quotes: Stop destroying the planet, that’s where I keep all my stuff!”

What a fun post. Just call me Joe-love it!!

I use that Seinfeld quote a lot and “these pretzels are making me thirsty” (straight up stole that one from you).

I know I quote more but my brain is dead right now.

These pretzels were totally making me thirsty this morning {if you know what I mean!}. 😉

I also love movies but I’m so bad at remembering quotes. Great list :).

We had a friend over for dinner last night, and he and I were quoting lines back and forth. My poor husband has a horrible memory, so he didn’t have the slightest clue of most of our lines.

My husband and I speak movie quotes to each other ALL the time. One of my favs is from Armageddon: “Never seen Star Wars” and “Crazy American cowboys”.

Also, from Wallace & Grommet: “Not even Windsleydale? What’s wrong with Windsleydale?”

And the classic Pink Panther: “Sir, what’s in the bag?” “De ‘am-bel-gar.” “He’s got a de-burger! Every body down!”

LOL! Ok, here I go…

We have to get this man to a hospital. A hospital? What is it? It’s a big building with sick people, but that’s not important right now. ~Airplane

Surely you must be kidding. No, and stop calling me Shirley. ~Airplane

Looks like two pigs fighting in a blanket. ~Steel Magnolias

I feel the need, the need for speed. ~Top Gun

I’m just like you, Sarah. I love movies, TV, all of it. My hubby and I are always throwing out movie lines when we think of something that fits the conversation or situation we’re dealing with. We’re total geeks. 🙂 And half the time I get the line wrong…as I’m sure I did above.
