Hannah’s Monkey Party

When hosting a monkey party, you have to take into consideration the decorations:
Don’t forget goodie bags for all the kids:
Then do a little happy dance when Hannah gets two more monkey shirts {bringing us to a grand total of four!}:
{each of these elicited shouts of “my monkey, my monkey!”}
And even if you forget to take pictures of the huge spread of food served {um, not that I would ever forget}, make sure to take pictures of the cupcakes:
I should mention, these are special cupcakes. Aside from being homemade banana chocolate cupcakes, they actually contain frosting on the inside. And not just any frosting. When our party guests bit into the cupcakes, the frosting inside indicated Baby Three’s gender:
The party was a blast. Unfortunately, we had a few last-minute cancelations. But, that has left us with lots of yummy foods to snack on for the week {and I can’t complain about that ;)}.
Hannah had a really great time. Though I am certain between not napping, spending the afternoon at the pool and then having all-she-could-eat-sweets might have done her in. Poor girl was in shell shock as everyone arrived and especially so when she was given presents. But in the end, she perked up and thoroughly enjoyed herself {and getting more monkey shirts certainly brought her enthusiasm to a whole new level}.
Have you ever hosted a themed party? What did you do?Β

So cute! I actually just did a theme party for my 2 year old daughter on Sunday. I’m hoping to get a post up about it today.
And congrats on the blue frosting! π I love that idea! I couldn’t have kept my mouth shut long enough to do something that creative.

Funny, I think we might be doing a monkey theme for our turning-3-year-old this year. Looks like lots of fun! And congrats on the BOY–boys are so much fun!

How fun! My daughters both love monkeys but not enough to have a birthday party theme with them. It looks like your monkey theme turned out WAY cute! And yummy too! π
Blessings,
Rosann

I love that theme! My daughter’s second birthday is coming up and we are going with a Mickey theme. My daughter loves Mickey so that was an easy choice :).

What a fun party! We haven’t had a themed party, but I can’t wait. The monkeys are so cute and it sounds like a theme can really help in planning. I love that Hannah keeps saying, “my monkey” how did the sock monkey come out?
I’d love the recipe for those cupcakes!

What a cute party theme! I must admit I’m not a huge fan of that monkey stuff in general, but you made it look really great! I can tell Hannah was thrilled with her special party π LOVE the blue frosting in the cupcakes!
Here is a link to Jackson’s construction truck themed 2nd birthday party: http://smithstoriesnblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/jacksons-second-birthday-day-party-time.html, and I am horrified that I never posted about his FIRST party! Yikes!
Enjoy your new two-year-old and your growing baby-boy-belly π

You plan a great party! π I love the cupcakes. Chocolate banana with frosting inside (blue!!) sounds amazing. Happy birthday (again) to Hannah. You have such a sweet, beautiful family.
