Fabric Wreath to Match my Blue Front Door – Try New Adventures

Posted on: March 22, 2012

Remember how I painted our front door blue?

There was some discussion in our house about how the door didn’t seem complete. That it needed color to help round it out. While it’s hard to tell from the picture, we do actually have flowers planted around the front {some have yet to bloom for the season}, which will help with adding color to the area. But Jonathan and I agreed we needed something more.

So I made a fabric wreath.

I used felt to make the flowers {via a tutorial from Alicia!} and cream colored yarn to wrap around the wreath. I used a lot of spring colors, just to give it some more pop.

We had some friends, Matt and Kristen, visit us from Iowa last week. They both said they liked the color, but Matt suggested that it was probably only a good color for the spring and that we might not like it as much come late summer/fall. Very true. Thanks to the color choice of the wreath it does seem to have an Easter egg look to it. *sigh*

I still like it. And it was pretty fun making the wreath – something I’ve wanted to try for a long time, but just have never made time for. Made I can pick some other colors for the fall and winter, but I’m at a lost for what colors to choose. Any suggestions?

What fun adventures have you had lately?

I LOVE that wreath and I think come September adding some red and orange will carry your door through the colder seasons nicely ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Andrea! I’ll have to keep my eye open for some reds and oranges for the fall. I think those would be some really pretty colors!

I know nothing about design, but the colors mustard yellow and/or brown pop into my head. Either way, I like the door and the one who painted it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Awww… thanks Wendy.

It’s great! I think you could definitely make a more fall feeling wreath too, way to go Sarah!

Thanks Katie! I think making another wreath will be my best option.

I love painted doors. And the wreath is lovely. =)

I think it’s lovely! And for Christmas, you could do a silver-ish wreath…I love blue and silver at Christmastime!

SO so pretty!! I love you door and the wreath is perfect for this season. You can always change it up when the seasons change.

Perhaps, for each new season, have each friend bring something (tasteful) for your wreath. In the end you will have something that is (hopefully) appropriately colored, but moreover, you will have something that is filled with the love and thoughts of those who are important in your life.

I love the blue door and fabric wreath. It is a great color. In the fall yellow and red would look great with that blue door too.

Good job. Thanks for sharing!

Blessings ๐Ÿ™‚

Love it. The blue door and the wreath are beautiful.

In the fall yellow and reds will be beautiful.

Really pretty wreath! I’m so looking forward to having a home so that I can do cute things like this. ๐Ÿ™‚
