Early Mornings and Coffee – Friday Joy

Posted on: August 12, 2011

The last two weeks, I’ve been getting up early to start my day off right. The first day the girls slept till their normal time of 6:30/6:45. Every day since, they woke up within 10 minutes of me. Sigh.

But even with the added company to my wish-it-were-silent mornings, it’s been really good for me to start my morning off early. These early mornings have allowed me to take my time, rather than feeling rushed and overwhelmed. And so I can sit down and leisurely drink my coffee, check my emails and enjoy what the day presents.

What’s your Friday Joy? Do you enjoy early mornings and leisurely sipping your coffee?

Wow! I admire your ability to get up that early! I do enjoy the days that I do get up and going and feel like I get a lot more accomplished and better about the day. My current morning joy is that fact that it is supposed to rain and I don’t have to water the garden! 😉

I’m a late riser. I got up at 8 today and I thought that was early but my daughter decided to wake up at that time. My daughter’s schedule got way off track this summer and usually goes to bed at 11 or later. Hopefully a new routine will present itself come winter time!

I think kids know when we wake up. It’s like they have some sort of sixth sense for when mama wakes up.

I agree Sarah! Or when momma tries to sleep when they are napping. Yesterday I did a few (read wasted a lot of time) then tried to close my eyes and literally the second they were closed Archer woke up.

I have tried doing the same thing recently…getting up earlier than the boys so my morning starts off quiet and organized. They’ve also been getting up earlier and my mornings have been like yours. At least we’re making an attempt though! 🙂

What a nice way to start the day! I’m working really hard to find my Friday joy as we’re experiencing round two and three of poopsplosions and no napping. BUT the sun is out and the park is calling our name and maybe an iced coffee too.

Oh Sarah, I’m an early riser too. It helps me have my time with the Lord before everyone wakes up. And I get a few emails read thru and sometimes some writing or reading done. And more often lately, I get my long run out of the way. Except of course the past two weeks while I’ve been on vacation. Nothing is getting done as it normally does. I’m feeling guilty on all accounts for not keeping in some kind of routine. Only a few more days and I’ll be back to business as usual though.

Blessings,
Rosann

Sounds like you have a good plan for starting your mornings off. Maybe the girls will sleep just a little bit later for you!!
