How to Tell Someone is Pregnant Through Social Media

Posted on: April 7, 2011

Have you ever asked someone when they are due, only to find out they aren’t pregnant? Or, even better, has someone asked you if you were expecting, when you very clearly were not? I’ve always erred on the side of caution and just not brought up the belly in question. But, when it comes to social media, people can drop “pregnant hints” like none other. What then?!

Well, here are a few ways to tell if your social media friend is indeed, with child:

And if those signs fail to pass your “they might be pregnant” radar, then maybe this will help:

Yes, my friends, I am pregnant. I am 10 weeks along {tomorrow}, due the first week of November. Thankfully, I haven’t been overly sick, just some extreme nausea that can last mere minutes, several hours, or all day. Quite unpredictable. But, baby is well, and that is all that matters.

We just had our appointment with our midwives earlier this week. We will be delivering with a birthing center in South Austin. I am thrilled with the facilities, as it’s the perfect blend between home and hospital. I am exploring water birth as our delivery option, but am still in the research phase. If any of you have had a water birth, or know of good resources on them, please let me know!

Oh YAY….I’m so glad the word is out, so I can stop trying to be discreet on social media…which obviously I’m not super great at, with all of my loud “SQUEE”s. Haha.
I. am. so. excited. for you, Sarah! You’re just knocking that 30 before 30 list out lately, aren’t ya?
P.S. Are you going to find out the gender, or do you guys do the surprise route?
P.S.S. You haven’t been overly sick…just EXTREME nausea that might last all day? Dear me. I wish I lived close by so I could whisk your girls away and let you nap…

I loved our twitter convo, but felt a little bad when Jill chimed in and I had to side step her questions. πŸ˜‰

I know…when Jill started asking questions I thought I had given too much away!

P.S. Not sure if we will find out yet or not. Most likely will since Jonathan really wants to know this time. Though I’d be for a surprise again.

WOO HOO!!! That’s such a great post–I just assumed you liked to eat yummy thing like me πŸ˜‰ Congratulations, and I hope things settle/slow down so you can enjoy this amazing time!

Oh Congrats!! What a fun way to spill the news!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚

Hilarious post. πŸ™‚ Congratulations!

Yay!!! I wondered when I read your tweet to Alicia πŸ™‚ But the food stuff went over my head. I just like irresponsibly delicious food.

Thanks ladies!

Congrats! I wondered when you didn’t have a beer on my bday! So happy for yall!

Ang – I told Jonathan on the way over that that would be a dead ringer, but figured no one would ask. πŸ˜‰

Whooo Hoo!! Congratulations!!!

Congrats! Visiting from Things I love Thursday. I hope its a great pregnancy for you!

Congratulations!! What a fun way to announce it. I also wondered if anyone would figure it out from some of my FB updates, but I’m pretty sure most people thought like Dana and assumed I just like to eat tasty things πŸ™‚

Hope everything continues to go well!!

Yippy!!!!!! Very fun way to announce it. I laughed at both those status updates about food and would have thought nothing of it. I think I posted something about eating half a bag of chocolate chips and peanut butter the day you posted the bagel comment haha!

Haha! Chocolate chip and pb cookies sound sooooo good right now. I actually have a post brewing about some food for thought my midwife gave me this week. Helped me looking at eating during pregnancy in a whole new way.

Yea!! Congrats!!!! I am excited we are so close in due dates! I see my mid-wife for the first time on Tuesday…

Congrats! Yay for new babies πŸ™‚

Wow! What a creative way of spreading your joy! Congratulations! I’m very happy for you.

Blessings,
Rosann

Thanks everyone!! We are super thrilled, though I don’t think the girls have grasped what is happening. Julia kept asking if the baby was coming home with us at our appointment. Haha!

Yay! I am so excited for you guys! Congratulations πŸ™‚ I will pray for a healthy baby and an easy pregnancy!

YAY!! So excited for you! πŸ™‚

and what a SUPER fun post!

Oh my goodness Congratulations!!!! So very happy for you. I don’t know if you remember ‘Nana” my mother-in-law but she told me years ago when I was pregnant with our first to take extra vitamin B6 and it worked wonders . I was never nauseous with either pregnancy. Again Congratulations!!

Congrats!!! That is so exciting! I announced it in disguise as an update about my older daughter.

This month Melody yada yada yada. And she is super excited she will be a big sister. She also learned to yada yada yada… =p

Aaaahhh!!! I’m so excited for you! πŸ˜€

FYI-all day yesterday, I wanted to tweet about irresponsible food choices. And all I could think was, “Wait, I don’t want people to think I’m pregnant!” πŸ™‚ Super fun way to announce!

Hello! I’m swinging by from New Adventures Thursday. Congrats on being preggers!!! Very exciting!! I’ll be praying for you and baby!!!

SO happy for you all!!

Congratulations, Sarah! I can’t believe you’ve been pregnant during all your moving craziness. :-O Hope the sickies end soon!

Congratulations!! I’ve always wanted to do a water birth, but haven’t been able to for various (good) reasons, so I’ll be interested to see what you decide.

When I asked the midwife if she had more information on water birth, her response was to look at me kinda puzzled and say “you have your baby in watere, what else do you need to know?”. It made me laugh, cause I suppose it’s true. So…. As of right now, I am saying that we are planning a water birth, but am open to not having it, if my body leads another direction come delivery.

That’s hilarious! I guess that is all you need to know. πŸ™‚

congrats guys! my great friend here in IC just had her baby at home- they did a lot of research if you want her email on water birth etc! let me know!

AHHH!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited for you!! I can’t believe I missed this news. Crazy busy life keeping me away from reading blogs! Yay yay yay! πŸ™‚

Beautiful! clever way to let us know too πŸ™‚

oh and about the water birth.. Sounds like you are going to try something similar to what we did with #3. When we got to the clinic she said it would take 45min to fill up the tub (he was born in 56min). Just an FYI to check on. My labors are all in the back and a large birth tub didn’t help b/c I needed to be on all 4s to have some relief of the intense pain. Matthias was born in an old claw-foot tub while I was on my knees. She was letting out the water as I was pushing (esp with all the “extra” I was pushing out). As soon as M’s head came out he was opening his mouth so I don’t know if they would have rushed me to push had he been under water (but maybe they naturally keep their mouths closed if they are delivered in water).
