Try New Adventures – Doing the 30 Day Shred

Jonathan and I started Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred last week. I have to admit I didn’t expect it to live up to much. After the first day I really thought “That wasn’t bad.” Maybe I should have waited until Day 2.

The workout themselves are challenging, but not undoable for me. However, doing it every day is what is challenging. My body doesn’t get to rest like it’s use to. In the past I’d workout, give myself three one day off and would feel pretty great once I went back to the gym. But not now. Now there is no resting. Jon and I do “Shred” every night after the girls go to bed and I’m impressed with what a good workout we are getting. I’m sore, but keep pushing through. Certain things are getting “easier” but other moves I dread {like side lunges with front raises – I hurt just thinking about it}. It’s been great working out with Jonathan, because he keeps me motivated and it makes things go faster since we are in this together. Here’s to hoping to be “shredded” in the next 30 days!

What are some of your favorite workouts? Have you tried the 30 Day Shred?

Yay! So, have you guys stuck to level one so far? My least fav exercise in level one was the squat and press things.

Keep up the great work! I think it’s absolutely awesome that Jonathan is doing it with you. 🙂

Yeah, I’m not sure when you’re suppose to move up. I figured every ten days, since there are three levels. So we move up on Monday to Level 2. Eek!

I saw your link to think on a post earlier this week and was amazed by Alicia’s before and after pictures. I put a hold on the DVD at our library so I can try it out – hopefully soon!! I’m looking forward to trying it and I think having my husband do it with me is a great idea, for my sake and his!!

Totally do it! I figured even if I don’t see amazingly awesome results, at least I’m working out. And that’s the real goal.

So true! The benefits of exercise are through the roof.

What is the main thing this does? Tone? Burn fat? I would love a good DVD but feel soooo overwhelmed at choosing one. Have you tried that P90 or whatever that is??

I haven’t tried P90X, but my brother did. He loved it. But it’s 6 days a week for 90 days, an hour each day. Not really mama friendly.

30 Day is an overall workout, burning fat, building muscle and toning. She has it broken down into strength training, cardio and abs. It’s about 27 minutes start to finish {warm up, workout, cool down}. A lot of libraries have it, and if not it’s only $9 at WalMart.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah… I’m sorry to tell you that side lunges with front raises will be your friend once you start level 2! LOL I actually mean that to be encouraging–I too felt like the first day wasn’t too bad. I’m assuming with all your running you aren’t finding the cardio parts TOO challenging. Level 2 definitely bumps it up! In a good way 🙂 I’m on day 4 of level 3 and it’s pretty kick-butt. Josh watched me do some of it yesterday and declared he’s not going to mess with me anytime soon! I’m not seeing quite the results Alicia did, but I’m still really pleased! GOOD LUCK!

Side lunges are my friends?! Oh man, I’m even more nervous to start Level 2 now!! The cardio hasn’t been bad. My calves were pretty tired with the jump rope routine, but as far as staying up to speed and such I’ve good with it.

Ohmigosh I’m so excited to try this especially after Alicia’s results, way to go lady that’s amazing! Did you and Jon take before and after photos? I totally agree with P90X all of Chris’s friends are doing it but it’s a LOT of time for parents of a baby. Or parents in general. I’m buying this after Thanksgiving!

Keep up the hard work Sarah, Jon, and Alicia!

I did p90x and now am doing it round 2- but instead of cardio i’m doing running on those days! it’s intense but good!
