Dyson – The Apple of vacuums

Posted on: August 19, 2010

We’ve had the same Oreck vacuum since we were married. And Jonathan had it for a year before that. And his parents had it for about two years before that. So when it died at the end of July it didn’t come as a total shock. We debated having it fixed, after all it did the job* and we liked that it was fuss free – no attachments, no hoses, just a vacuum. But then we decided to buy our dream vacuum: Dyson – All Floors.

{This picture almost makes me think angels are singing in the background, what with the perfect lighting and super clean carpet}

We found a great deal at Home Depot, paying $100 less than we expected and we bought it. As soon as we got home, we put our Dyson to use. And here’s what we got:

Pretty gross. We had vacuumed two days before and the floors didn’t even look very dirty. But the Dyson pulled up all the dog hair, dirt and yuckness that apparently our other vacuum {and vacuums we have borrowed since ours broke} just couldn’t get. Wow. After that first run through, we did it again and got half as much, then did it a third time and got about a fourth more. Pretty spectacular if you ask me.

Jonathan said Dyson is the Apple of vacuums. They are sleek, state of the art and pricey but worth it. My favorite part is that I can vacuum our wood floors {which is the kitchen and all the bedrooms} so I don’t have to sweep, which just so happens to be one of my least favorite chores.

I had always wondered if Dysons were as good as they sounded. Glad to know they are! Our vaccuum…works. It was new when we got married, but I’m never too impressed with what it does. And since we have two shedding dogs, we kind of need it to be heavy duty. This is going on my wishlist!

Wow- that’s impressive (and gross!) ๐Ÿ™‚ Really makes me want to borrow your Dyson and see what kind of junk comes up off my floors! Having a super nice vaccuum hasn’t been a big priority since mike and I don’t generally spend a lot of time on the floor, but thinking about having a crawler in the next year has me thinking we should consider upgrading.

Dude, would you ever rent out your vacuum? I have short black dog hairs totally embedded in my tan carpet. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am sooo jealous! Dyson is definitely the way to go. They have some Dyson hand dryers in bathrooms here, and they are DREAMY!!!! They even mount some lower for kids…wow.

Yes! I have a DC-14 which is All-floors and love it, too! We bought ours refurbished, and my husband laughs when he watches me vacuum my living room rug. I go over it and over it and over it just to look at the vacuum marks! ๐Ÿ™‚ Living in Florida has us getting sand everywhere in the house, so the rug gets the brunt of it- the first time I vacuumed with it, there was 1/8 canister full of sand and silt just from my rug. Gross, but as a mommy, very satisfying to know that our kiddies aren’t going to be rolling around in THAT anymore. We are Dyson believers and won’t have anything else. Truly worth every penny. The suction is never-ending and the canister emptying is SO easy!

Can you move a little closer please?

Ohhh – I have a raincheck for one of these at Kohl’s ($319 plus my 15% off coupon!)…I cannot wait for them to get more in stock. We have a longer pile in our new house and I can vacuum and vacuum before I shampoo and still have a bunch of big crumbs in the shampooer. I’m optimistic that the Dyson will take care of the problem!

YAY for new vacuums!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I just got one last week (not a Dyson though :D) and it’s just SO nice to have one that actually, like, WORKS. ๐Ÿ™‚

[…] new.ย  So nice! AND there are no hidden fees and no minimum balances.ย  So my account for my new Dyson that I have been drooling over for the past few weeks- well, I can put my $5 per month into my […]
