A mind of her own

We’re an on-the-go family, so it should come as no shock to me that Julia is the same. If that girl could stay outside all day, playing, running errands, meeting new people, or just doing anything that isn’t requiring her to be still, she would.
Thursday, our friend, Matt, babysat Julia so Jonathan and I could celebrate our anniversary. Apparently, he asked her what she wanted to do. She led him outside, up the hill in our backyard and started say “Belle, Belle, Belle”. For anyone who doesn’t know, Belle is a daughter’s friend that lives behind our house. Matt obliged and took Julia over to Belle’s. One small problem. It was 8 at night. Aside from my child, most kids are in bed by 8. And Belle was for sure. I don’t know the full details of what followed, but apparently Julia was less than happy about not being able to play with Belle.
We have some friends that live five doors down from us. They have two little girls that are 17 months and 1 month older than Julia. She loves these girls and get really excited whenever we go over there. For the last week, we can’t go in the front yard without Julia taking off down the sidewalk to their house. The entire way she just repeats “D, D, D” for the youngest girl.
It makes me laugh to see how she already has a mind of her own. She knows what she wants and how to go about getting it. I love that she’s pretty out going (unless strange men are involved) and loves being around other people. She’s a Windham after all! 🙂
