How I Ended 2011 With a Splash – Literally

Posted on: January 5, 2012

I ended 2011 by jumping, fully dressed, into a pool.

It was cold. It was crazy. It was awesome.

I’ve realized I’m not going to complete my 30 before 30 list by my birthday in March. Sure, I still have time to knock off a few items, but it won’t be fully completed. And I’m ok with that.

When I first wrote my list two years ago, it was a personal challenge. A challenge to push myself to try new things, be okay with failure, and most of all to say yes to life.

So on Saturday, December 31, when I had the chance to jump in a freezing cold pool, I went for it. It’s something I’ve always secretly wanted to do, but never thought would happen. Well it did happen. I said yes and made it happen.

What are you saying yes to? What adventure should you try?

I am happy for you…lol
Honestly, that is something that I would “NOT” like to do …..ever.
Happy New Year!

That’s AWESOME Sarah! 🙂

Oh my goodness I bet it was really cold but the look on your face in that picture says you are happy that you did it! Awesome!!

That’s hilarious! Congrats. 🙂 I’m saying yes to staying warm, haha.

Haha! Good idea. 😉

Brrrrr! Even if you don’t complete your 30 before 30, you can still finish most of it! Keep it up!

I love the idea of your 30 before 30 even if a few don’t get checked off, I feel you made place in your life for other important and special things! I also LOVE the look on your face in this photo!

I’m trying to say yes (or no rather) to worrying about if I’m parenting ‘right’ and just relying on the fact that God gave me my baby(ies) for a reason and turning to him in prayer before making decisions. I’m not sure on new adventures to try but making yeast bread might just make the list.

The 30 before 30 idea is a great idea….unfortunately, I’m past 30, so I’ve missed the boat. I’ll just have to skip on to 40 before 40…..

So I’m curious, Aside from jumping into a pool fully clothed, what else have you completed on your list and what mischief do you have left to accomplish?

What am I saying yes to? In the immediate future: a cup of tea. In the next week future: attempting to pass my licensing exam. In the more interesting post-licensure future: taking another pottery class and a writing class.

Happy New Year, Sarah! I’m glad you jumped into a pool. That’s a pretty awesome way to bring in the new year!

Oops! Nevermind! I just found your 30 before 30 list, with the completed tasks marked with the date of completion. You’re so organized!!! It’s a great list. You’ve got a lot done, but don’t give up! You can still finish War and Peace (although, I’ve had a hard time getting farther than half way. Something always comes up and I can’t dedicate the time anymore and then I forget everything and feel I have to start over and….oh well!)
